This program will begin with a review of brain injury and the global impact of brain injury on cognition, emotions, behavior, and physical function. Concepts related to how the global impacts of brain injury affect the ability to successfully transition to competitive employment or alternate options for engagement in productive activity will be discussed. The components of transitional work programming as it relates to persons experiencing the global effects of brain injury will be explored, including more traditional comprehensive evaluation and intervention, functional job analysis, functional capacity evaluation, work conditioning, simulated work, work-site intervention and employer/employee education.

Presenter

Lynne Chapman, MS, OTR/L, LICDC, CDRS is both a licensed occupational therapist and independent chemical dependency counselor, with clinical experience in neurological rehabilitation and certifications in the areas of driver rehabilitation and transitional work. Lynne manages the driver rehabilitation evaluation and training program at Mercy Health and serves as a consultant for the Traumatic Brain Injury Resource Center. Prior to joining Mercy Health, Lynne was an Associate Clinical Faculty member in the Occupational Therapy Doctoral Program at The University of Toledo and Senior Clinician in the Department of Rehabilitation at the University of Toledo Medical Center, with a specialization in neurological rehabilitation.
