We are thrilled to share a heartwarming story of community, compassion, and connection. Recently, Mrs. Kelly Zielinski from Navarre Elementary School in Toledo reached out to the Traumatic Brain Injury Resource Center (TBIRC) with a special request—and we were honored to answer the call.
Thanks to the incredible efforts of brain injury survivors and dedicated volunteers, we donated 70 handmade fleece blankets along with books for 1st and 2nd graders at Navarre Elementary just prior to their Thanksgiving break. Each blanket was lovingly crafted, not just to provide warmth, but to deliver comfort and care to young learners. While passing the blankets and books out to the eager students, Mike Moore took the opportunity to talk about brain injuries and why it is so important to protect our brains.
This initiative is more than a gift—it’s a testament to the power of purpose. For brain injury survivors, having a place to meet socially is vital. It fosters connection, reduces isolation, and creates opportunities to contribute meaningfully. Making these blankets gave our survivors a chance to give back to the community, sparking joy and pride in knowing their work makes a difference.
At TBIRC, we believe that healing is not only physical—it’s emotional and social. Projects like this remind us that when we come together, we create ripples of positivity that touch lives far beyond our own.
