The History of Advent Calendars
Advent calendars have a rich tradition dating back to the 19th century in Germany. Originally, families marked the days leading up to Christmas by lighting candles or drawing chalk lines on doors. By the early 1900s, printed calendars with small doors became popular, each revealing a festive image or Bible verse. In the mid-20th century, chocolate-filled calendars emerged, adding a sweet twist to the countdown. Today, advent calendars come in countless forms—from toys and beauty products to digital versions—yet they all share the same purpose: building anticipation and joy for the holiday season.

Our Online Advent Calendar for Brain Injury Survivors
This year, we’ve created a special online Advent calendar designed to support brain injury survivors, their caregivers, and family members. Each day offers uplifting content, helpful resources, and fun activities to bring joy and connection during the holiday season. It’s more than a countdown—it’s a way to celebrate together, share hope, and make the season brighter for those navigating life after brain injury.

Each day a new ornament will be revealed starting December 1.  You can access the calendar by clicking on the image below!
