We were excited to welcome a group of students from Otsego High School to the Traumatic Brain Injury Resource Center (TBIRC) for their Day of Service! Their visit was filled with learning, hands-on experiences, and meaningful work that will have a lasting impact in our community.
To kick things off, students were introduced to the programs and services we offer at TBIRC, gaining a better understanding of how we support individuals and families affected by brain injuries. They also had the opportunity to experience firsthand just how a concussion can affect vision and coordination through our Fatal Vision® concussion simulation goggles. This eye-opening activity gave students a new appreciation for the challenges people face after a head injury.
After learning about brain injury awareness, the students rolled up their sleeves and got to work. They helped assemble community kits that will be distributed to those in need, ensuring that important resources reach individuals and families throughout our area. They also spent time tying cozy fleece blankets—each one made with care and compassion—to bring comfort to those the TBIRC serves.
We are so grateful for the time, energy, and enthusiasm these students brought with them. Their willingness to learn and give back truly made a difference.
