Today’s Gift
Each person writes down one hope for the New Year on a slip of paper.
One Wish, One Intention: A Gentle Start to the New Year
The new year can feel like a fresh page—but for brain injury survivors and caregivers, it can also feel overwhelming. Big resolutions? They’re great, but sometimes they add pressure we don’t need. So here’s a simple idea: write down just one wish, one intention, or one hope for the year ahead.
Why Just One?
Because one is enough. One is powerful. One is doable.
- It brings clarity. Life after brain injury can feel like a whirlwind. Choosing one hope gives you something steady to hold onto.
- It’s grounding. When tough days come (and they will), that little note reminds you what matters most.
- It helps the brain. Writing things down supports memory and focus for survivors—and gives caregivers a calming pause.
- It builds momentum. One small step can lead to big changes without the stress of a long list.
How to Begin
Find a quiet moment. Take a deep breath. Ask yourself:
What do I truly hope for this year?
Then write it down—on a sticky note, in a journal, or even on your phone. Keep it somewhere you’ll see often.
It could be as simple as:
“I hope for more laughter.”
“I intend to take one walk a week.”
“I wish for peaceful mornings.”
Your Turn
What’s your one wish, intention, or hope? Share it with us—or keep it close to your heart. Sometimes the smallest act can spark the biggest change.
